I’ve been listening to podcasts since the days of the iPod, when you had to manually sync the episodes you downloaded from your computer on to your portable music player. In that time, I’ve sent some of my music to shows I admire, and I’m grateful to have had those songs included in some episodes. Here’s a rundown of the podcasts that have featured my work.

The Flop House Episode #425 – The Matrix: Revolutions

On episode 425 of The Flop House podcast from May 25, 2024, host Dan McCoy read a letter I sent to the show, which included a song I recorded specifically for the show. It was a silly thing about movie musicals. The discussion about my letter is at 1hr 34 minutes into the episode, and the song is included right at the end of the show. You can also hear it on my SoundCloud.

I first heard this episode while traveling by train from Galway to Dublin, Ireland on June 15, 2024. My family was on a week-long bus tour of Ireland.

Robot Or Not – Episode 26 – Cylons

In this short-form podcast from The Incomparable network, host Jason Snell asks perpetual guest, hypercritical author and inventor of Podcast Follow-Up™ John Siracusa to give his definitive* opinion on whether or not something is a robot. At least that is how the show began – it quickly evolved into discussions on defining many things. For example: is a hot dog a sandwich?

At some point, the hosts put out a call for listeners to send in theme songs, and I took up the challenge on two separate occasions. My first run at a theme song was introduced on episode 26, which is a discussion about whether or not a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica is a robot.

* Although I can’t recall any instances of this off-the-dome, there may be times in the long history of the show where Siracusa has updated or modified a previous classification.

Robot Or Not – Episode 287 – Autonomous Excavator

My second theme song for Robot or Not was first featured on episode 287: Autonomous Excavator. This song was inspired by music from a Japanese video game from the 90s called Puyo Puyo, that was imported to North America under the name Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine. You can also hear this theme song on episode 290 – Airport Wheelchair.

Honourable Mentions

While it was never played on the show, I submitted a theme for the Questions & Answers segment on How Did This Get Made and had some nice feedback from the hosts & fans of the show.
