Hey friends,
I’ve got something really special lined up ahead of my new single Magic coming out on October 14, and I want you to be part of it.
On September 29, we’re gathering at The Forks for a One Day Choir event. If you haven’t heard of these before, the idea is simple but powerful: a group of people comes together, learns a song in one evening, and then sings it all together in harmony. That’s it. No weekly rehearsals, no pressure, just the joy of making music with other people.
Local composer McKye has written a gorgeous a cappella arrangement of Magic, and she’ll be leading the session. The song is about putting down your phone, escaping the endless scroll, and finding the magic in real life — in your home, your relationships, your pets, your community. And I can’t think of a better way to celebrate that than with voices rising together in one room.
You don’t need to be a pro singer (I promise). All voice types and experience levels are welcome. If you can carry a tune — or even if you just love the feeling of singing with other people — you’ll fit right in.
Everyone who joins us at The Forks will also get a ticket to the release party at The Handsome Daughter on October 14, where I’ll be playing Magic with my band and sharing the stage with some incredible Winnipeg artists.
For me, this choir event is about community, about reminding ourselves how good it feels to be present with each other. Music has this way of cutting through all the noise and letting us connect in a way that’s real, simple, and human.
So if you’ve ever wanted to try something like this — or if you just feel like stepping out of the scroll for an evening — come join us. It’s going to be special.
Tickets are by donation, so pay what you can. Reserve your tickets on Eventbrite, and I’ll see you tomorrow night at The Forks!
